Currently we are working through a sequence based on the book The Sugaring-Off Party. In the story a grandmother tells her grandchild about her family's tradition of gathering and celebrating during the maple sap harvesting time. We are nearing the end of our unit and as a culminating activity students will be working on writing a story from the past. Today a guest speaker came and shared a number of stories from her past that will be sure to get the students’ creative juices flowing. Students may choose to retell a story that our guest shared or to describe a tradition of their own. I hope that this project will inspire some conversations about the heritage and traditions that your family treasures.
Please remember to return the choir trip permission slips for the performance with the Red Deer Symphony on Monday, April 23.
