Phrase One - Blueprints
Students began by brainstorming their perfect dream house. Then came the hard work of becoming an architect and graphing to scale the area and perimeter of their rooms. Harder than it looks we found out! Persistence paid off!
Perseverance Pays Off
Phase Two - Building
Once the blueprints were drawn and revised to scale the building has begun. Students chose how they were going to build their floor plans in their frames.
Phase Three - Building Furniture
Describe the characteristics of 3-D objects and 2-D shapes, and analyze the relationships among them.
Phase Four - The Swimming Pool
Thinking like an architect, build a swimming pool that is the shape of a rectangular prism. Give the volume and capacity of the shape and be prepared to convert the dimensions.
How could you figure out the volume of this object?
How do you know the volume is 1000cm3 ?
Phrase 5 - The Backyard
Thinking like a landscape architect, design your backyard to go with your dream house. Make sure you use the criteria we build as a class, and that you show your swimming pool in your backyard.
