Oct. 31 Happy Halloween!
Many thanks to the parents who provided special and delicious Halloween treats.
Students are encouraged to bring water bottles to class so they are properly hydrated. However it is important to wash these water bottles on a regular basis. We encourage students to eat a nutritious breakfast. Attendance is extra important as we are beginning to assemble portfolios.
We are busy planning many volleyball activities this week. Some will be after school. Please see the note that was sent home on Friday for date and times.
No school Friday for students as it is professional learning day for teachers. Daylight savings begins on Sunday, November 6th. Remember to set your clocks back one hour.
Spelling test is next Tuesday, Nov. 8. We will continue to work on words from the Words Their Way Program.
Operation Christmas Child Shoebox program has begun. We are accepting small toys, school supplies, and personal hygiene items for a boy or a girl. Donations towards shipping costs will be gratefully accepted. It costs $7.00 to ship each box. Please do not send any liquids(including toothpaste), anything breakable, or toys of violence. Some suggestions are: pencils, paper, dolls, cars, balls, combs, toothbrushes.Thank you for all your support!
Focus I Can Statements for this week:
Science – I can predict (indoors and outdoors) where one is likely to find the warmest and coolest temperatures.
Social – I can appreciate the diverse ways that people have of living with the land. I can explain how Aboriginal cultures are unique in each of the western, northern, central, and eastern regions of Canada.
Math – I can solve a math equation that has a letter in it. I can describe the meaning of each digit in a number. I can describe the pattern of place value digits.
LA – I can experience different texts, such as historical fiction. I can discuss my understanding of the lives of different people or characters (in various cultural traditions).
